Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins.

Church School
In Church School, we learn more about God, His love, and His world.  Ready our young people for the world around them. There are classes available for every age group. The church has a van to provide transportation for those who need it.

Lay Organization
The Lay Organization is a group of members whose purpose is to learn and train the laity in our Church so that each member may utilize the abilities and skills granted to them by God to the maximum.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes.

Missionary
The Sarah Allen Women’s Missionary Society supports the connectional Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  The WMS  is comprised of women who seek to help each person grow in the knowledge and experience of God through his son Jesus Christ.  It provides opportunities and resources to meet the changing needs and concerns of women and youth through intensive training, recruitment, and Christian witnessing. The WMS also sponsors health institutes, and health initiatives that focus on various causes such as Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, AIDS, etc.

Music & Dance Ministry

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and dance ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. Still others get involved in dance. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Sons of Allen
Sons of Allen Men’s Fellowship to foster closer relationships between men of the church, to equip men of the church for meaningful service, to reach unchurched men, and to present positive role models for our youth. The Sons of Allen has grown into an important connectional movement over the past twenty-plus years and the Fellowship is becoming a true connectional ministry.

Stewards
Stewards tend to the needs of the pastor and make an exact account of all assets collected for the support of the pastor and the church. Stewards are to make reports of all financial expenditures, and attend the Quarterly Conference to offer input if they are requested to do so.

Stewardess
The Stewardess Board started as a group composed of the wives of members of the Steward Board. As women became members of the Steward Board, the Stewardess Board evolved to include more people. The Stewardess Board assists with activities such as the serving of the Holy Sacrament and the welcoming candidates for new membership in the church.

Trustees
Trustees in the African Methodist Episcopal church have the responsibility of all church property. This includes management, maintenance, development, and use of property under the direction of the church’s Official Board for the support of the programs approved by the congregation. The Trustees are stewards of the property that has been entrusted to their care. Duties and responsibilities of Trustees are defined in more detail in the A.M.E. Church Discipline. A local church will elect no less than three (3) Trustees and not more than nineteen (19). Allen’s Trustees know their responsibility is for the property and not for church programs.

Ushers

The usher team at our church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
